Patrick's Sketchbook Diary... A few final bits from the vaults...

I obviously have ZERO intention of posting up every page of my diary from the early part of this century... Mainly because I was a lot younger and there are some terribly annoying feelings related crap in there which make me physically sick.

Speaking of sick though, this is a random little connected story that was happening end of 2001/start of 2002. I've posted it up mainly because the old man vomiting looks hilarious, and the diagram of the pipes in my house is pretty fun.

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary... A disgusting story from the vaults...

Ok, so whilst going through my old papers and diaries etc. I found this harrowing story that I had basically forgotten. It was about a night out in Banbury town. (Back before we had anywhere remotely nice to go.) and yes... I urge you to read. haha.

This little comic appeared about 3 pages later in the diary. Please click it if you can't quite see it. All the images open up larger and more readable that way.

Great little animation of Stephen Fry's debate with Anne Widdecombe on the Catholic Church...

Stephen linked to this from his Twitter page this morning. It's really an excellent watch and a good debate.

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary... The TEN YEARS AGO edition.

Now, at the start of me posting up all this Sketch Diary stuff, I told a slight fib. If you look at my first Sketch Diary post I suggested I had stolen the idea off of a friend of mine, but actually I used to sketch in my diaries way back in 2001.

Here are a few excerpts from my trip back from Australia at the end of that year. I know it was that time because our flight home was delayed and re-planned in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

This next one was me trying to tick myself into being less restless during the flight by pretending I was doing something energetic and fun...

On the plane, as always, there were some weird-assed people. One in particular was really pissing me off during the journey. This segment is about her.

And Yes... that IS a ponytail. Back then I used to have really long hair. Get over it.

Big Boi & Organized Noise remix Amy Winehouse...

As a tribute to the talent that was Amy Winehouse, Big Boi of Outkast has made this remix of "Tears Dry on Their Own". It's a pretty different take on the track, but I really dig the groove, and stanked-out simplicity.

Amy Winehouse - "Tears Dry on their Own" (Organized Noize Dungeon Family Remix) by Big Boi

Enjoy.

New "Beavis & Butthead" clips released at Comic Con 2011!!!

When I was in my early teens. Beavis & Butthead pretty much informed my world view. They are back, and they are still damn funny.... thank hell.

My friends at Geek Night Out visited the London Comic Con and made this great vid...

Painting of Hendrix I did for a friend's birthday...

I haven't posted this up before... It's a painting I did for my friend Chris's Birthday. He is also a musician and a great fan of Jimi. I snapped this picture last time I was over at his house, as I had stupidly forgotten to document it when I made it.

AntiPop Consortium upload new tracks!

One of my favourite, (and undoubtedly one of the most creative) Hip Hop groups AntiPop Consortium reformed last year to drop one of their best albums yet... and just when it was starting to look like a one time deal, they've uploaded some new tracks to their Myspace page. Yes... MYSPACE page. Here's the link: AWESOME

"Aluminium" is definitely hitting me as the best of the three, but they are all excellent!

Illustration of the Singer/Songwriter Richard Walters...

A while back I was asked to create an image for a good friend of mine Richard Walters and this is what i came up with. I've posted it fairly low res on here so the image can't be misused, but you can still see the level of detail I went to.
To contextualise the piece, Richard Walters released an album last year called "The Animal". It is extremely good and you should own it (as well as everything else he ever records.)

If anyone would like to commission me for a creative portrait, or some artwork for their project... please email me at: patrickc@hotmail.co.uk

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary 46. A profile of Tom J Raspian.

I probably made him a bit eyebrow heavy, but that's ok because I'm bigger than him.

Love you Tom! hahaha.

By the way, Raspian is a producer of electronic musics. You can hear him HERE.

Collabradoodle project - Example 1

Recently, I was inspired to the idea of creating collaborative comic art. There are plenty of talented comic/webcomic people out there and so I tried my luck sending a half finished piece to one of them on twitter. A talented female artist called Emi AKA Krunchie_Frog . She completed the comic and coloured it.
Here is the result:

Anyone else interested in making a Collabradoodle with me, please contact me: patrickc@hotmail.co.uk

Cheers Old Bean! (A public apology to Hugh Grant.)

Now, Hugh.... I'm aware that I've talked a lot of shit about you over the years. I may have even called you a "Floppy haired twat" on more than 50 occasions.... but you know what? I can admit when I'm in the wrong!

I mean... you are just a guy right? A posh guy sure, maybe one with floppy hair, and a blushing boy face that wrinkles up like a motherfucker every time you smile.... but that's not your fault.
I may have also laughed when you got arrested for your indiscretions, but on reflection... who DOESN'T like a blowjob in their car, am I right?

Basically, Hugh... I think we got off on the wrong foot, and I'd like to start over. Can we start over? I made this illustration of you to sort of, apologise and say.... You actually an alright kinda guy, y'know?

P.S. I still don't really like your films. Hope that's cool bro.

Patrick

A week or so back I attempted to catch you all up to my Everyday Art project "Quick Comic Panels" by posting a shit ton of them up... well I found two more at work that I missed out so I'm posting them up now. One is MEGA OLD and the other is about 6 months old.

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary 43. A portrait of Richard Neat.

My friend Rich visited me last week. He's completely changed his whole look, short hair, trim well-kept facial hair. He looks like the kind of guy who works in a phone shop.

Anyway, this is what he looked like the LAST time he visited me and hung out at my house for a bit. I sketched this after a few beers and a glass of scotch, but I still think it came out alright.

This was kinda the end of the night where things were winding down a bit. I think that's why there's a slightly melancholy look on his face.

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary 42. End of a long line of dolls.

This page has to do with a design I was working on, I didn't include the previous page because it has designs on it I intend to use in the future. But I think you can get the context fairly easily.

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary 41... Jealous Eyes Lasers

In the previous post I put up a portrait I did of my friend Dan. Shortly after I completed it I realised that we'd been sat in silence for a good 15-20 minutes as he read a comic and I drew him. Deep within me I could feel a jealous rage burning... I also wanted to read that comic, but I was too poor and handsome to afford one.
I concentrated all my rage into two small dotted lines which I fired at his head. He's never been the same since.

P.s. He was reading Avengers.

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary 40... Line Portrait of Dan Cronin

For this portrait I tried to draw entirely by eye. No measurements or guidelines. The results came out FAR better than expected!

Ummmm.... That's NOT Ice-T.

I regularly come across incredible examples of BAD graphic-design during the course of my day job. But this one takes it to a whole new level. The designer of this front cover exercised an unmatchable lack of knowledge about the product he was working on. (Either that or he was a sort of subversive racist.)

Just because he's a black guy, it does NOT mean he is Ice-T. I'm not disputing the fact that Ice-T might be in your film... but that guy... The guy on the cover under the name Ice-T.... ummmm That's NOT Ice-T.

Patrick's Sketchbook Diary 38 ... Another Train Portrait

Bit of a wonkey one, but I quite like it's sketchiness. I'm usually over-concerned with strong lines, so it's nice to let go sometimes and go a bit Quentin on it.

By the way, This guy had the tiniest laptop I've EVER seen.

My friend iTAL tEK is giving away a free track...

He's a Brighton-based electronic sound controller and he is dope.

He's got a new EP coming out on Monday called "Whip It Up" and it is dope.

You can find his Facebook page HERE. And download the free track "Ulysses" from HERE.

Nuff Said.

Early warning that the IQ level in this store won't be "All That".
